The
Amityville Quoit Grounds The Amityville quoit grounds are located on a scenic, nine-acre, semi-wooded property just a few miles west of Boyertown, PA and just off of Route 562, in Amity Township. It includes a large, level field area with available space for up to 100 pairs of quoit pits. The total number of pits constructed for each Tournament will be determined by the number of registered teams participating. A minimum field of 60 teams would require 20 sets of pits, and the number of teams pitching and the pits needed usually increases each year! |

The Tournament
Guaranteed 8 Games of Pool Play. Every team will pitch 8 round-robin games against opposing teams within their Division, and will complete all assigned games in Pool Play even if the team loses all eight matches. Seed positions for the playoffs are then determined for qualifying teams, and are calculated from the number of wins and the differential point total from all their games. The seeded teams within each division will go on to compete in the playoffs.
Best-of-Three Elimination During all Playoff Rounds! All tournaments in the USQA National Quoit Tour will use a Best-of-Three-Game format for all rounds of the playoffs. By implementing an 8 AM tournament start and an 8-game Pool Play, the playoffs should be able to complete by early evening. Electric Lighting will be available for any games that run past dusk. |

The Pits Most Events in the USQA National Quoit Tour require the construction of at minimum 20-30 pairs of quoit pits (40-60 pits). Because of the large number of pits involved, and because the Quoit Ground property is privately owned, it is currently not feasible to construct and maintain regulation pits built with wood boxes filled with clay. The pits at the WQC will instead be installed directly on the ground and the sod will be removed to expose bare areas of topsoil for game play. Additional topsoil material will be available for pit maintenance between tournament rounds. Be aware that pitching in dirt is quite different than pitching in soft, well-maintained clay, so participants are hereby notified that they shall come to this event properly prepared to pitch on dirt pits in their existing condition. ALL participants shall be considered at the same disadvantage. |

Official USQA Quoits The quoits used in this tournament are cast steel, with a weight of four pounds each. Custom casting molds were used to make these quoits. Our custom design includes the raised letters "USQA" on the top surface in addition to the raised "A" and "B" lettering. Each "A" quoit is painted gold, and each "B" quoit is painted black. |
