The latest event added to the National Quoit Tour is the USQA Singles Championship. The Singles Tournament originally replaced the USA Nationals Tournament in 2006, which had been held in mid-August. Unfortunately, the 2006 event was rained-out. The event was finally held for the first time on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Bethel Fire Company, 9675 Old Rt. 22, Bethel, PA. The change of tournaments was decided upon to answer the growing demand for a Singles tournament for those players wishing to know their individual performance level by competing one-on-one in a sanctioned USQA tournament. |

The USQA National Quoit
Tour
Most privately-organized
quoit tournaments held annually in Eastern Pennsylvania are "closed"
Invitational-type tournaments, restricted in size and limited to an
exclusive group of
friends or club members. Because of this, there are many other casual and
recreational quoit players in America who would jump at the chance to compete in
public tournaments, especially for large cash prize awards. Until now, there was little or
no opportunity
to pitch in a large public quoit tournament anywhere in North America. Fortunately, the United States Quoiting
Association can now provide that opportunity to everyone - not only at our
original, once-per-year World Quoit
The USQA National Quoit Tour is expected to consistently increase in exposure, size, and payouts each year. The Tour currently consists of The USQA Spring Opener in April, The Danville Iron Heritage Festival in July, and on the same weekend in September, The World Quoit Championship and the USQA Singles Championship. Links to tournament information with details and sign-up forms for each of these four events are posted at the top of this page. Get yourself a pitching partner and sign-up for one or even all of the tournaments this year - you will have a great time, and an opportunity to win some very nice prize payouts!
We also have a full-page color FLYER published here on our site to help advertise the National Quoit Tour. These flyers include detailed information and directions to the four public tournaments included in the Tour. Download and Print a copy of the flyer for your own reference, or print a large quantity and distribute them to your pitching friends. You may also help us spread the word about these four great events by posting the flyers in public places in your local community!

The USQA World Quoit
Championship The USQA World Quoit Championship is the Flagship event of the National Quoit Tour. This tournament held every September as the largest USQA event of the season. It is also the most popular Event on the tour. Any Quoit teams within North America are welcome to enter and compete for the "World Title" of American Quoit pitching. The first World Championship was held in a large field near Gilbertsville, PA in September 2003. 30 sets of dirt pits and two large canopy tents for shelter were setup for the event. The tournament attracted 60 quoit teams - mainly drawing from a 30-40 mile radius around the Pottstown area. Unfortunately, heavy rains fell all day, creating a slimy swamp-fest that will not soon be forgotten. The following year, the Championship was moved to a nicer location on private property near Amityville, PA. Once again the weather was uncooperative on the scheduled date, due to even heavier rain and blowing winds from Hurricane Ivan. That year, the tournament was wisely postponed two weeks to the first Saturday in October, which luckily was a beautiful, sunny day. Almost 90 teams competed that year. After another season of perfect weather in 2005 at the quoit grounds in Amityville, the USQA moved to an even larger site for the National Tour the following season. All the USQA events for 2006, except for the Danville Iron Heritage Festival, are now held at the Bethel Fire Company in Bethel, PA, about 10 miles northeast of Reading PA and about 18 miles northeast of Harrisburg, PA. This location will hopefully provide the USQA with more capabilities to expand the National Tour in the coming years, making it bigger and better than ever! The USQA North American Quoiting Database
Another goal of the USQA is to document as many quoit players across North America as possible. To do this, we have created and continue to develop the USQA North American Quoiting Database. We encourage each and every quoit player who visits this site to complete our Online Database Form so we may become aware of all those who actively participate in our favorite sport! It is free, quick, and easy to do, and the information you provide is private, to be only used for internal USQA records.
You also have the option to publicly post minimal contact information in the USQA Public Quoit Contact List on this website. It's sole purpose is to help Quoit players locate, meet, and pitch with other players in their local area. Our online Database Form includes an optional section you may complete to be included in the Public List. Currently , over 3/4 of our registrants have listed themselves in the Public Contact List !
PARTICIPATE IN THE USQA QUOITING DATABASE AND PUBLIC CONTACT LIST Be sure to tell all your Quoit Pitching friends to sign-up here as well! |
